Maintaining a work-life balance first and foremost is an intentional act. It doesn’t happen by accident, especially if you have been affirmed over years for working long hours.
You must decide what is most important in your life and then live by those values. If family or enjoying life is most important, then you’ll do what it takes to create healthy work-life boundaries.
I’ve found oftentimes that people just haven’t given it much thought and so working long hours is just their natural state of being.
