Hi, I’m Brad White; a recovering workaholic dad. I’m basically just a husband and dad of three amazing kids…who lost his way and eventually learned a better path.
My goal here is to share my experience as well as lessons learned from other great dads about how to work hard, but also how and why to put your family first.
I’ve been a senior executive in a growing, and profitable software training business for over 20 years. For the first 10 years, I was a workaholic. For the last 10, I’ve been a recovering workaholic.
So what changed? What caused the shift? Very simply, I had kids and was eventually hit with the fact that if I didn’t stop working all the time, not only would I not have a marriage or relationship with my kids, but that I would be causing severe damage to my kids. I would end up divorced and estranged from my kids.
I had that “aha moment”! I was fulfilling my career goals and dreams at the expense of my marriage and relationships with my children. On the surface, I was being a “good provider” with a “strong work ethic”…all good right? In reality, it was all ego and completely backwards. I was living to work instead of working to live. My life and my value were all wrapped up in my job and paycheck. Prior to this epiphany, I wasn’t seeing my life clearly. But I had finally seen the light.
I discovered that my marriage and being a dad was the most important thing in my world and so I decided to put my priorities in the right place. I still work hard and am incredibly focused while at work. But I’ve learned how to leave work at work and stay deeply connected with my family.
My passion and desire is to help you avoid the mistakes I made and up-level your husband and dad relationship skills. I coach career-oriented dads and teach techniques and approaches to family relationships that work. My life’s purpose is to share a better way forward for you, so that you too can be a Recovering Workaholic Dad.
